Rhodes
Guide for beaches, food, entertainment

On the island of the mythical Colossus of Rhodes you will never get bored as it has something beautiful for everyone. A timeless place, popular since Roman times, a mosaic of history, experiences and images composed by Greeks, Arabs, Persians, Saracens, Byzantines, Ottoman Turks, Venetians and Italians, a beautiful island with many wonderful beaches and rich tradition.

What to see
A walk in the Medieval City of Rhodes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a must, as it is considered one of the most well-preserved medieval cities in the world. Among the monuments you must visit are the Palace of the Grand Master, the Hospital of the Knights, the Street of the Knights and the Virgin of the Castle.

From the Old Town, head to Mandraki and modern Rhodes, with dozens of shops, cafes, restaurants, accommodation and historic buildings. The two symbols are dominated by the two symbols of the island: the bronze statues of the deer and the deer. It is said that the mythical Colossus of Rhodes stood somewhere.

The ancient Acropolis of Lindos, with the Doric temple of Lindia Athena of the 4th century BC. is an excellent proposal as well as the archeological site of Kamiros. On the northwest side of Rhodes and a short distance from the village of Theologos, there is the green "fairytale" Valley with the Butterflies, a rare habitat in Europe that attracts millions of butterflies creating an incredible, vibrant spectacle.

Where to swim
In Rhodes you will meet the beach of Anthony Quinn, named after the famous American actor who has internationally promoted Greece ("Alexis Zorbas" etc.). Maybe we will see a different Faliraki this year, quieter. There is a huge organized beach with sand and everything you need (water activities, beach bar, restaurants) to spend an unforgettable vacation. Near the city the organized beach Ixia, with winds ideal for water sports lovers (windsurfing, kitesurfing). Other organized beaches: Glyfada in the southwest, with crystal clear waters and pine trees. Afandou beach for families in the homonymous village, the small beaches in Kallithea where there are thermal springs, Ialyssos, Lindos, the impressive Prasonisi that surfers love, Kiotari, Lardos.
